About Box Breathing
Box Breathing is an Android breathing timer that guides users through repeated four-phase breathing patterns. A dot moves around a square, indicating when to inhale, hold, exhale, and hold again; an inner square expands or contracts with the breath, while a large counter shows elapsed seconds. The interface is designed to be followed with eyes closed through audio cues. Each phase can be set from one to thirty seconds or skipped. Presets include equal-length box breathing, a longer box, a 4-7-8 pattern, and coherent breathing. Sessions can run for a set number of minutes or remain open-ended. Users can choose a second-by-second tick, spoken counting, phase-change chimes or spoken cues, vibration, and an end-of-session gong. A get-ready countdown and volume control are also available. Box Breathing requires Android 10 or newer and requests only vibration permission. It has no ads, account, network access, or data collection, and keeps the screen on during a session. The app describes itself as a relaxation aid rather than medical advice and warns users to stop if they feel unwell; it should not be used while driving or in water.
