About Carnet

Carnet is a note-taking app for Android, Linux, and web browsers, with optional synchronization. It supports quick lists as well as longer writing such as stories. Notes can be organized into folders, tagged with keywords, and searched; a recent-notes view provides quick access to current work. Users can choose a root storage folder and change note backgrounds or use a dark theme. The editor supports bold, italic, underline, color, highlighting, and alignment. Notes can include images, audio recordings, website links, and to-do lists. Word, sentence, and character statistics are available, and Android users can protect app access with a PIN; the PIN does not encrypt the note contents. An import option for notes from another service is available on desktop, after which they can sync to mobile. Synchronization with a personal cloud server is supported but not required. An online editor is also available as an add-on for that server. Carnet is intended to keep notes accessible across devices while allowing users to choose whether to use synchronization. The supplied description says the app is under active development and supports multiple languages.
