Chompass is an ad-free calorie and food tracker for Android. Meals can be logged by taking photos, speaking, scanning a barcode, entering text, or selecting saved meals and recipes. Barcode lookups use a food database, with results cached for offline use; the app can also read codes from an image during photo analysis. Users can choose to connect a cloud AI provider with their own key or use an optional on-device model. The on-device option requires a one-time model download and is described for ARM64 devices with at least 6 GB of memory. The product says information is not sent to a server unless a cloud provider is selected. The app tracks calories, weight, body fat, goals, steps, and exercise. Its daily calorie budget can include energy burned, using Health Connect measurements, a manually entered value, or an estimate based on the user’s recent activity average. Users choose whether to use on-device processing or connect an external cloud provider. The food diary supports several entry paths so logging can begin from a photo, voice input, barcode, typed description, or a saved meal. Barcode results can be cached for offline use, and the app can inspect a barcode visible in a photo. Progress tracking combines food logging with body metrics and activity data, while optional widgets surface selected information on the home screen. The app permits local-only use and leaves cloud AI as a user-selected option; API keys are stored encrypted on the device. Data can be exported in several text and tabular formats for a user’s own records.
