SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

Derandom

Derandom analyzes a sequence of numbers from a pseudo-random number generator and attempts to predict subsequent values.

About Derandom

Derandom analyzes a sequence of numbers from a pseudo-random number generator and attempts to predict subsequent values. It supports inputs associated with the Java linear congruential generator and the Mersenne Twister MT19937. Numbers can be entered directly, read from a file containing one value per line, or sent over a socket connection to the device. In socket mode, the app returns predictions after each input number. Inputs are expected as integers or floating-point values between zero and one; floating-point input is supported for Mersenne Twister only. The app can identify the Java generator from a sequence and shows prediction history, distinguishing correctly predicted values from incorrect ones. Derandom is a tool for exploring predictable behavior in pseudo-random number sequences. Its results depend on the generator and observations provided, and it is designed to attempt predictions rather than guarantee them. The supplied information does not describe cryptographic random-number generators.
