About FOSDEM Companion
FOSDEM Companion is a schedule browser for a technology conference in Brussels. It lets attendees download the latest program and browse sessions offline by day or track. Search is available, and a track view is optimized for phones and tablets. Session details include room information, speaker details, related links, and a map of the venue. Users can bookmark sessions, add them to a calendar, share event pages, and receive reminders when bookmarked talks are about to start. A live view shows currently running and upcoming sessions during the event. The app handles timezone changes and device restarts for reminders, so users can browse and save sessions while in another time zone and still receive alerts at the event’s local start time. FOSDEM Companion is intended to help attendees plan and navigate the schedule, rather than provide registration or ticketing functions.
