About Fujiten
Fujiten is an offline Japanese dictionary app for Android. It supports searches for expressions and kanji, with separate modes for each. The required expression and kanji databases must be installed first; users can download them in the app’s settings or load them manually. Once the databases are available, dictionary searches can be performed offline. Search tools include matching kanji by selected radicals, searching for any kanji or kana character, and using regular expressions for more specific patterns. The app can convert lowercase romaji to hiragana and uppercase romaji to katakana, which is useful on devices without a Japanese keyboard. Fujiten is built with Flutter and provides settings for database management and screen brightness, along with legal information. Its search interface supports flexible input, including wildcard patterns and radical-based lookup for cases where a reader recognizes a character’s components but not the full kanji. The app is useful for Japanese learners who want local expression and kanji lookup, including radical search and script conversion. It depends on the user installing the dictionary databases before it can provide definitions.
