About Gitling
Gitling is an Android Git client for working with repositories from a phone. It can clone, create, delete, and import local repositories, and provides views of files, commit history, and differences between commits. Users can check out and create branches or tags, merge changes, inspect repository status, stage files, rebase, and cherry-pick commits. Remote connections can use HTTP, HTTPS, or SSH, including SSH keys protected by a passphrase. The app supports authentication for remote hosts and provides a one-tap sign-in flow for a hosted Git service. It can also generate and manage private keys. Its interface is built with modern Android components and offers light and dark themes, with either a fixed accent color or colors drawn from the wallpaper. Gitling does not include a text editor. To change files, users need a separate editor that can open files shared through Android’s file provider mechanism. The app therefore focuses on repository operations and review, while file editing takes place in another compatible app.
