About HappyTaxes
HappyTaxes is an offline bookkeeping app for recording income and expenses on a cash basis. It is aimed at freelancers, sole traders, small businesses, and people managing personal finances. Users can attach receipts to transactions and prepare profit-and-loss reports for reviewing finances or preparing for tax time. The app is designed to keep multiple years of records available. Receipt capture uses on-device optical character recognition to read information from images. The recognized details can support entering a transaction without sending the receipt to an online processing service. Users can back up and restore their data through ZIP export and import. Deleted records are soft-deleted for 30 days, allowing recovery before they are permanently removed. HappyTaxes works without internet access, accounts, cloud synchronization, advertising, or tracking. Financial records and receipt data remain on the device, with the user controlling local backups. Its combination of transaction tracking, receipt capture, reporting, and recovery makes it a private bookkeeping tool for people who want to manage basic finances without a connected accounting service.
