About Horus

Horus provides a Linux terminal environment on an Android phone for running command-line coding agents and developer tools. It unpacks Alpine Linux inside the app without requiring root access or a separate terminal environment. Users can create a project folder, clone a project from an HTTPS or SSH address, or sign in to select a repository. The shell can install tools such as Git, Python, Node, and ripgrep when needed. A user chooses a coding agent and starts it in a project workspace. The agents can inspect and edit code, run commands, and work on tests. Horus supports up to four concurrent sessions, each with its own notification. Sessions continue through a foreground service when the screen is off, and notifications indicate when an agent has finished or needs a response. A file browser lets users review changes and copy a folder to Downloads. The terminal is adapted for phone input with swipe typing and a keyboard bar for Escape, Tab, arrow keys, paste, and one-shot Control and Alt modifiers. An optional password can protect the app, and the workspace locks after fifteen minutes in the background. Optional USB access lets a paired computer connect to the phone’s shell, transfer files, forward ports, or run commands across several phones; it is disabled by default and restricted to paired computers. Horus requires an ARM64 device running Android 7.0 or later. Linux packages and coding agents download from their providers on first use, and some agents require their own user accounts. The Android app sandbox is the stated security boundary; its Linux user-ID emulation does not provide kernel isolation. Users should run only code they trust in the workspace.
