About jtx Board journals|notes|tasks

jtx Board combines journals, notes, and tasks in one Android app using components from the iCalendar standard. Journals and notes use VJOURNAL entries, while tasks use VTODO entries. A dated journal entry is treated as a journal, and a VJOURNAL without a start date is treated as a note. Tasks can include scheduled, due, and completion dates, progress, and status. Entries can be linked together, for example connecting meeting notes with follow-up tasks. The app’s use of standard calendar components is intended to make data interoperable rather than tying it to a single provider. Synchronization with a compatible CalDAV server is available through a separate DAV synchronization app, which must be installed independently. Users can choose a hosted or self-managed server, including a local server, to determine where synchronized data is stored. jtx Board is intended for people who want notes, journals, and tasks connected in one system, with the option of standards-based synchronization. The product description focuses on local organization and CalDAV sync; some import and export functionality is described as future work. VJOURNAL and VTODO are calendar components, not proprietary formats, though support for them varies among other applications.
