About Markleaf
Markleaf is a local-first Markdown notes app for Android. Notes are written in plain Markdown and can be previewed as they are edited, with support for tables, checkboxes, blockquotes, callouts, and syntax-highlighted code blocks. Formatting shortcuts, find and replace, word counts, and reading-time estimates support writing and reviewing longer notes. Tags are written inline in the note text and indexed automatically, so organization does not depend on folders. Full-text search, a quick switcher, and links between notes help users find and navigate material. Notes can be pinned, archived, moved to trash, and restored. A two-pane layout is available on tablets, and a home screen widget provides quick access. The app stores notes locally and has no internet permission or account. Users can mirror notes as Markdown files in a folder they select, import Markdown or text files, and export one or all notes. A biometric lock and screenshot-blocking option are also available. Data leaves the device only through user-initiated sharing, export, or a selected folder.
