About Mathe-Trainer
Mathe-Trainer is an Android app for practicing mental arithmetic, aimed at children beginning primary school. It offers 83 lessons arranged in ten groups, starting with counting and comparing pictures and progressing through addition and subtraction at several number ranges, multiplication tables, division, order of operations, telling time, and handling money. Some exercises include carrying or remainders, allowing practice to cover both basic calculations and more involved school topics. The interface is available in German. Practice results distinguish accuracy from speed. The app records how long it takes to reach a correct answer and presents progress as a learning curve and a leaderboard for children sharing one device. Stars reflect the error rate, while lightning bolts reflect time per task; keeping these measures separate means careful work can be recognized even when a child answers slowly. Parents can use a PIN-protected area to choose which lesson groups are offered, set practice limits for each session and day, and control how many attempts count toward a lesson record. They can also have difficult tasks appear again. Parents can assign lessons for a particular day, on a daily or weekly basis, or as a plan for a named date. Assignments can include minimum star and speed targets. This connects the collection of exercises to a structured routine while leaving the child to work through the selected material. The app works offline, requires no account, and keeps its database on the device. A backup is created only on request and passed to Android’s sharing interface, so the user chooses what to do with it. The described feature set makes Mathe-Trainer a focused practice tool for families sharing an Android tablet or phone, particularly where a German-language interface is suitable.
