About Open Recorder

Open Recorder is an Android screen recorder that saves captures as MP4 files. Users can choose whether to record no audio, internal audio, microphone audio, or a mix of microphone and internal audio. Recording settings include sample rate, H.264 or H.265 video, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, orientation, optional 16:9 letterboxing, a countdown, and a custom filename pattern. Recording can be paused, resumed, or stopped from a notification or Quick Settings tile, and it can continue if the app is closed. A recordings tab lists saved videos and can sort them by date, size, or duration; users can select one or more recordings to delete. After a capture, the notification offers actions to watch, share, or delete the video. Open Recorder requires Android 10 or later and has no internet permission, ads, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking. Android asks the user to confirm each recording, and apps that block capture may appear black or silent. Internal audio is limited to apps that permit playback capture. The app is open source and keeps recordings on the device.
