About OpenContacts
OpenContacts stores contact information in its own database, separate from Android’s system contacts. Contacts kept there are not available to other apps through the system contacts database, according to its description. Users can import contacts from vCard files, which allows an existing contact collection to be brought into the app. OpenContacts can be used as a contact manager and dialer. It maintains a call log and can show a caller’s name for an incoming call. Keeping contacts in a separate database gives users a way to manage a private address book without exposing those entries through the standard Android contacts store. The app is intended for managing contacts and calls while keeping its contact list separate from other apps. The supplied information does not describe synchronization, backups, or whether contact details are encrypted.
