About OpenPhotoFrame
OpenPhotoFrame turns an Android phone or tablet into a digital photo frame. It displays selected photos as a slideshow with smooth crossfade transitions and can retrieve images from local storage or a Nextcloud share. Users can configure how long each slide remains visible, how quickly transitions occur, and how often the app synchronizes new images. Photos are cached locally, so the slideshow can continue offline after images have been downloaded. The app is designed to run continuously as a dedicated frame and is intended for devices repurposed for displaying a personal photo collection. With Nextcloud, the collection can stay on a server the user controls rather than relying on a third-party photo service. OpenPhotoFrame is free and open source, with no ads, in-app purchases, or tracking. Its settings are focused on the slideshow and synchronization schedule, keeping the app centered on displaying personal photographs rather than managing a larger media library.
