About PlaneTxt
PlaneTxt organizes to-dos, calendar entries, journals, and notes as ordinary Markdown files in a folder chosen by the user. Each day has a file for its journal, tasks, and events, while notes are kept in subfolders. There is no database, and users can sync the folder with a separate file-sync tool or edit the Markdown files in any text editor. The app includes a month calendar, with the selected day’s Markdown content shown below it. To-dos can be checked off with a tap, and unfinished tasks can be carried forward to the current day. A notes browser supports search and renaming. A home-screen widget displays the day’s agenda and tasks, and local notifications can remind users about scheduled items. PlaneTxt offers light and dark themes and does not require an account or network access. Its plain-file approach keeps data accessible outside the app and avoids a proprietary database format. Users choose the folder and can use their own synchronization method if they want the same files on multiple devices. The app is useful for people who want a simple daily planner and journal based on portable text files. Its structure supports both dated entries and longer-lived notes, while the Markdown format allows the files to remain editable with other tools.
