About Quire

Quire is an Android EPUB reader for people who maintain their own Calibre-Web library. It browses books through an OPDS catalog, downloads selected titles on demand, and reads EPUB files with adjustable fonts, themes, and line spacing. Reading progress can synchronize across devices through a small companion server operated by the user, with data stored in the user’s configured database. Multiple users are supported, and the reader uses an existing library account. Credentials are stored in Android Keystore. The app has no analytics, crash reporting, or third-party tracking components, and network requests go to the configured book library and synchronization server. It is designed for people who want mobile reading tied to a self-hosted collection rather than a standalone bookstore. Optional AI features are off by default. If the server administrator configures an AI endpoint and the user opts in, Quire can show book insights with citations and build a reading profile from completed books. These features can also suggest titles from the user’s library or a discovery catalog. AI requests remain within the configured network until the user enables them, and the cached profile can be deleted from settings.
