About ResticDroid
ResticDroid creates scheduled, encrypted backups of files on an Android phone using restic. Backup profiles define what to include, where to store it, and when it should run. Ready-made selections cover photos and media, documents and downloads, installed app packages, or shared storage; each can be adjusted. The app supports local folders and several remote storage types, including S3-compatible services, cloud object storage, and REST servers. Data is encrypted and deduplicated on the device before transfer. Existing restic repositories can be opened, and snapshots created by the app remain standard restic snapshots that can also be accessed using restic on a computer. Scheduled runs can be limited to charging, unmetered networks, selected Wi-Fi networks, or a chosen battery level. Repository passwords and API keys are stored in Android Keystore. User-started backups and restores can require fingerprint or repository-password confirmation, while scheduled tasks run without prompting. Configuration is kept in readable text files. ResticDroid does not use root, so it cannot back up private app data. It can save installed app packages for rebuilding a device, but not their associated app data. Repositories stored on the phone are automatically excluded from backups to prevent recursive copying. The app connects only to the repositories the user configures.
