About Rowtine
Rowtine is an offline project organizer for knitting and crochet. It brings patterns, yarn inventory, notes, and counters together so a maker can keep track of a project between sessions and resume from the point where they stopped. Project data stays on the device, with no account or server described. PDF patterns can be imported and analyzed on the device. The app rebuilds sections, rows, and sizes from patterns written in English, French, German, or Spanish. While following a pattern, a size selector filters the numbers shown to the chosen size. For chart-based work, users can follow rows with a movable marker and keep an abbreviations sheet available; on a tablet, the chart and written instructions can appear side by side. The stash manager records yarn and whether it is available or reserved for a project. It can warn when the remaining yarn may not be enough to complete a piece, including for multicolored yarn types. Rowtine also tracks project costs, separating purchases from gifts, and provides a lookup for needle or hook sizes using yarn-label information and a pattern’s gauge. A gauge is the number of stitches and rows produced over a given area, which helps relate a yarn and tool choice to the pattern. Two additional tools support work in progress: a counter that can be used independently and a calculator for distributing increases or decreases across a row. Units can be metric or imperial, with five currencies available for cost tracking. The interface, in-app guide, and pattern import are provided in four languages. Rowtine’s focus is on keeping project planning and pattern-following details together without requiring an online account.
