About rsend
rsend backs up selected folders from a phone to one or more SSH servers using rsync. It is designed for one-way transfers from the device to remote hosts, with folders such as camera images, messaging media, or call recordings selected for backup. Transfers can run on demand or periodically, and by default are limited to unmetered networks. Users can configure multiple named remote hosts and choose a destination for each folder. Transfers are incremental, so unchanged files do not need to be sent again, and large video transfers can resume from a private partial-transfer directory. Each folder can use an additive backup policy or a mirror policy that reflects deletions at the source. These options let users choose whether older remote files should remain or the remote copy should track the current folder contents. The app connects using rsync over SSH, with Ed25519 client-key authentication and strict pinned host-key verification. The transfer tools and SSH transport are included in the app. Access to all files is needed to read arbitrary folders, including device-specific call-recording directories. Since the transfer is one-way, rsend is intended for copying phone data to a server rather than synchronizing changes back to the phone.
