About SimpleDay
SimpleDay is an Android diary built around one entry per day. Users can write thoughts and memories in Markdown, with a live preview for checking formatted text. Entries autosave as they are edited, and the interface is designed to keep attention on writing rather than presenting a feed or social features. The app can be protected with a biometric lock or the device PIN. Entries stay on the phone by default, and users can optionally synchronize them with a WebDAV server they control. On first use, existing entries can be imported from WebDAV. This provides a way to back up a journal to a personal server without requiring a hosted account from the app developer. SimpleDay is free software under GPL version 3 and is described as having no ads, trackers, or analytics. Its one-entry-per-day structure provides a simple journaling routine, while Markdown, live preview, autosave, app lock, and optional WebDAV sync support writing and protecting a private diary.
