About SOS Ring
SOS Ring is an Android app that lets selected contacts’ calls sound an alert even when the phone is set to Silent, Vibrate, or Do Not Disturb. Users choose VIP contacts or enter numbers manually, then enable the monitoring service. For a recognized call, the app can play a ringtone at a chosen volume and vibrate, then restore the phone’s previous sound and Do Not Disturb settings when the alert ends. The alert behavior can be customized. Users can choose whether the first call triggers an alert or whether a repeat call from the same number must arrive within a selected time window. Optional alerts can also be configured for supported direct message conversations, with a separate sound and volume. Quiet hours and a temporary mute option can suspend these overrides. An optional location-sharing feature uses explicit contact pairing and encrypted messages relayed through a user-selected push distributor. Sharing is off by default for each contact, and live tracking can be enabled for a chosen duration. SOS Ring is designed for people who need particular calls or messages to remain noticeable while their phone is otherwise silenced; its call detection and notification features require the corresponding Android permissions and access settings.
