About SplitSmart

SplitSmart is an offline expense-splitting app for groups such as trips, households, or dinner parties. Members can record expenses as they happen, and the app calculates who owes whom. Its settlement feature simplifies the debt plan to reduce the number of transfers needed, with a switch to compare simplified and raw balances. Partial and full settlements can be recorded. Expenses can be divided equally, by exact amounts, percentages, or shares. Users can select which participants are included in a particular split and see a live preview of each person’s share. Each group can use its own currency and manually entered exchange rate, and participants can set a group-specific identity for themselves. Recurring expense templates can generate due expenses automatically. Reminders for expenses or settling up are optional. Search and category filters help review transaction history, while a home-screen widget displays balances and app shortcuts provide quick access. The app stores all data on the device, with JSON backup and restore for the full dataset and CSV export for a group. It has no account, cloud synchronization, or internet permission, so sharing or transferring data depends on an export chosen by the user.
