About Text Torch
Text Torch analyzes SMS and MMS conversations and summarizes how two people communicate. For each contact, it compares who starts conversations more often, what share of messages each person sends, and the average length of each person’s texts. The results give users a quantitative overview of their messaging patterns rather than displaying or interpreting the conversations themselves. The app uses contact access to show people’s names alongside its analysis and needs message access to read SMS and MMS data. Analytics and crash reporting are available through an opt-in setting. Using the app involves granting access to text messages and contacts, which it needs to calculate and label its comparisons. Text Torch is focused on a few simple comparisons across conversations, presenting initiation frequency, message share, and average length as percentages or averages. It is intended for users who want to examine their own texting behavior with individual contacts.
