About TU Expense Tracker

TU Expense Tracker records spending by reading incoming bank transaction SMS alerts on the device. Once a merchant is assigned to a category, the app can reuse that mapping for later transactions. Users can split a multi-item receipt among several categories, add notes, and search transactions by merchant or note. A dashboard provides interactive charts, spending trends, and comparisons across months. The app stores records in a local database and can export the financial history to an Excel-compatible spreadsheet. It does not require bank-account credentials or a cloud account; transaction entry is based on SMS messages received by the phone. The app’s design is offline-first, with no ads or trackers. SMS access is central to automatic transaction ingestion, and its usefulness depends on the user receiving bank alerts in a format the app can recognize. TU Expense Tracker is intended for reviewing spending and categorizing transactions, not for managing bank accounts or making payments.
