About Veil
Veil is a local-first Android notes app that encrypts notes before writing them to private device storage. It supports Markdown editing and protects the note collection with a password-protected vault. Encryption is based on OpenPGP, and the password is processed using Argon2 key derivation. An optional biometric unlock and automatic locking are available. Veil is designed for offline use and does not require an account or cloud synchronization. It is currently in beta. The product description states that there is no password recovery, cloud backup, or import/export flow yet, and advises users not to rely on it as the sole copy of critical information. Veil is intended for people who want encrypted notes stored locally, while its development stage and lack of recovery or data-transfer features are important limitations to consider.
