About WaniDoku

WaniDoku is an Android study companion that sends Japanese context sentences as notifications. It draws sentences from vocabulary a user has already passed or mastered in a separate learning service. The user reads a sentence and can reveal its translation to check comprehension; afterward, another sentence appears at a configurable interval. The notification-based format provides brief reading practice throughout the day without requiring the user to open a dedicated lesson screen. Notifications can be scheduled at different intervals, though Android battery-saving behavior means they may not arrive at an exact time. The app may need battery optimization disabled for notifications to appear reliably. WaniDoku requires an active subscription to the supported vocabulary-learning service, since it uses that account’s learned vocabulary to select sentences. It is intended for learners who want additional reading practice from words they have already studied, using short examples delivered through Android notifications.
