About Waqfah - Quran before apps
Waqfah places a Quranic verse in front of selected apps when the user opens them. The reading screen appears first; the user can read the verse or skip it and continue. Waqfah does not block apps, impose time limits, or track usage. Users choose exactly which apps receive this pause and can set a per-app cooldown so that reopening an app does not repeatedly interrupt them. It avoids showing the screen during calls, quick switch-backs, share-sheet actions, and “Open with” entries. Reading can proceed sequentially from the lowest unread verse or use random selection, with progress tracked across all 6,236 verses. The app includes Indopak and Uthmani Arabic text, two bundled Arabic fonts, adjustable text size, and optional transliteration. English and Bengali translations are available, with additional translations that can be downloaded. Users can browse surahs, check progress by surah, or jump directly to a verse. The interface is available in English and Bengali and has seven themes and five accent colors. The app works offline except when the user chooses to download an additional translation. It stores app selections, reading progress, and preferences on the device, and says it collects and sends no data. Usage access identifies which app has moved to the foreground, while display-over-other-apps permission allows the reading screen to appear. Notifications keep the required background service visible, and a startup permission can restart monitoring after reboot when the feature remains enabled. Waqfah does not request accessibility or screen-content access and cannot read inside other apps. Waqfah is free software under AGPL v3. It is intended as a voluntary reflective pause before chosen apps, with a one-tap skip and no enforcement or penalty for skipping.
