About Waterfly III
Waterfly III is an Android companion for a user’s self-hosted Firefly III personal finance installation. It cannot run as a standalone finance manager; a running Firefly III instance on the user’s own server is required. Once connected, the app provides a dashboard with charts and budget overview, plus a filterable transaction list. Users can add and edit transactions, with autocomplete, attachments, split transactions, and multiple currencies. The app also supports viewing and adding money to savings goals called Piggy Banks. A notification listener can help create transactions from incoming notifications, such as payment alerts from a bank app. This listener is optional functionality in the described workflow. Waterfly III is open source and has no ads or trackers. The app is intended for people already maintaining their own Firefly III server who want to check budgets and manage transactions from Android. The server dependency is central: without it, Waterfly III does not provide the underlying accounts or financial data. The evidence describes a client connection but does not specify which server versions or integrations are supported.
