About whatIwatch

whatIwatch helps users keep track of television series they are following. It is a progress tracker, not a service for streaming or watching episodes. Users can search a public series database, add shows to their list, and mark individual episodes as watched. This gives them a simple record of where they have reached across one or more series. Series and episode information is retrieved from the TVmaze public API, while the user’s tracking data is saved locally on the device. The app does not require an account or sign-up, and its description says it does not share the user’s data. A backup and restore feature uses SQLite files, allowing the user to keep a copy of their tracking information and restore it later. The app is deliberately focused on personal viewing progress: it helps answer which series are being followed and which episodes have already been seen. It does not provide video playback, recommendations, or social features. Since show information comes from an online database, an internet connection is needed to look up series, while the saved watch history remains on the device. The description indicates that the app does not need device permissions.
