About xnotes
xnotes is an Android handwriting notebook and sketching app designed for stylus use. Its ink is pressure-sensitive and low-latency, with pens and highlighters, and strokes remain editable after they are drawn: they can be moved, restyled, or erased rather than being flattened into an image. A rough shape can be held to snap into a clean shape. Additional ink styles include a neon glow effect and disappearing ink that fades over time, useful when writing temporarily during teaching or presentation. The notebook supports both structured pages and an infinite canvas. Page layouts include single, double, or cover pages, with scrolling or page-flip navigation, and more than twenty templates are listed, including planners, Cornell layouts, music staves, and isometric grids. Two notes can be viewed side by side. Notes are saved as files in a folder selected by the user, and the app includes a file explorer with grid, gallery, list, column, and timeline views. For working with documents, xnotes can import PDFs for handwriting and annotation. Users can widen margins on any edge for side notes, and mark PDF text with highlights, underlines, strikethroughs, and comments. PDF text can be searched, and color filters adjust the document’s appearance while leaving embedded photos and images unchanged. Exported PDFs retain sharp vector output, selectable text, links, and bookmarks. The app also supports typed Markdown, tables, LaTeX equations, and code highlighting on the page. Theme options include dark and OLED modes, customizable accent colors, and adjustable toolbar placement. The supplied description lists support for S Pen and many other styluses.
