About XPENC
XPENC is an offline Android personal finance app for tracking accounts, transactions, budgets, debts, and financial trends. It separates account balances from transaction categories and treats income, expenses, and transfers as distinct types. Transfers between a user’s own accounts do not change net worth or appear as spending in budgets, while income and expenses change the total balance. Cash, bank, debit, and credit accounts are represented with different balance behavior to avoid counting linked payments twice. Budgets can be set by category and time period, with progress indicators and alerts at 80 percent and when spending goes over budget. The app also tracks money owed to or by other people, including partial settlements and running balances. A calendar view displays daily money in and out, alongside bill and installment reminders that do not create transactions unless the user confirms them. Reports include category breakdowns, income compared with expenses, net-worth trends, and account-level summaries. A JSON backup can be restored, and CSV exports are provided for further accounting work. The interface uses a monochrome Material design with a true-black mode. XPENC is described as fully offline, with no account, server, or ads; transactions are stored in a local database. Optional permissions are requested for particular actions such as reminders, receipt photos, and choosing a contact. The app is free software under the MIT license and performs money calculations in whole paise.
