About Zapp

Zapp is an Android app for watching live streams and on-demand programs from German public broadcasting. It provides live streams from more than thirty channels and access to programs from over twenty media libraries. Users can search for shows, view current program information, and switch quickly between channels. The app supports adaptive streaming and background playback, and subtitles are available for some programs. Live channels and on-demand shows can be shared, and newer Android versions can use channel shortcuts for faster access. Zapp serves as a mobile client for the MediathekView program catalog, bringing live television and media-library content together in one interface. Some channels may be geographically restricted outside Germany. Zapp is therefore most useful for viewers who want a single place to browse live broadcasts and catch-up programs from German public broadcasters, with search and subtitles where available.
