About εκκλησία — Άμεση Δημοκρατία

εκκλησία — Άμεση Δημοκρατία is a civic-participation app focused on Greek parliamentary, regional, and municipal decisions. It presents real bills and decisions for users to vote Yes, No, or Abstain, and compares citizen responses with parliamentary votes through a divergence score. A party-comparison view indicates which party’s votes most closely match the citizen results. Regional and municipal decisions are also included through public governance records. The app provides summaries of bills generated with AI, alongside the original bill information. Participation is described as anonymous and uses cryptographic signatures and nullifier hashes. A Greek phone-number network-status check is used during verification, but the description explicitly says this does not prove possession of a SIM card or a person’s identity. The phone number is deleted after verification, and the signing key remains on the user’s device. Results are archived in a public, permanent record for auditability. These votes are informational and do not have legal force; the app is not affiliated with a government body. Its results should therefore be understood as a civic signal and comparison tool, not an official election or binding public consultation. The project is open-source under the MIT license. It is intended for Greek citizens interested in expressing views on public decisions and comparing those views with elected representatives. The app’s participation and verification process depends on its external data and archival services, while the voting outcome itself remains non-binding.
