About Anonomi Postbox
Anonomi Postbox is a companion relay for Anonomi Messenger. It runs on an Android device controlled by the user and stores messages for contacts while a phone is offline, then forwards them when it reconnects. The relay is linked to Messenger by scanning a QR code and does not use a separate account-registration system. The postbox is published as a Tor onion service and is reachable through Tor. It includes pluggable transports intended to help connect when Tor is blocked. Messages remain end-to-end encrypted between the sender and recipient; the postbox can hold and forward them but cannot read their content. It does learn when it is contacted. Anonomi Postbox is infrastructure for a user to operate, not a hosted messaging service. It requires Anonomi Messenger and is not useful independently. It extends peer-to-peer messaging with store-and-forward availability, with the user's own device and network hosting the relay.
