About AppVerifier BG
AppVerifier BG helps Android users check whether installed apps are signed with the expected certificate. It compares signing-certificate SHA-256 fingerprints with verification information supplied as text, stored in a personal database, or included in the app’s built-in database. A SHA-256 fingerprint is a fixed-length value associated with a signing certificate; matching it can help identify whether an installed package has the expected signer. Debug-signed apps are flagged, and verification results show the expected and found values when they differ. The installed-app list presents status indicators for the different checks and can be searched by app name or package name. Users can sort by name, database status, debug signing, clipboard verification, or shared-text matches, and filter the list to show mismatches. A hash can also be pasted on its own to find installed apps signed with that certificate. Split APK bundles and ZIP files containing a base APK can be checked as well. For repeated use, verification details can be saved in a user database and imported or exported in JSON, plain text, or YAML. Imports can be combined with existing entries or replace them, and entries can be added individually or in bulk from shared text. The app accepts shared verification text and APK files from other apps. Its built-in database is updated with app builds, while the personal database lets users retain their own expected fingerprints. AppVerifier BG includes light and dark themes, an AMOLED black option, Android 12+ wallpaper-based colors, and customizable accent colors. It is intended as a verification utility for people who want to compare app signatures with known values; it reports a match or mismatch but does not itself certify the trustworthiness of an app or its publisher.
