About ArcaneChat
ArcaneChat is a decentralized messaging app for private conversations with friends and family. It allows people to begin using it without a phone number or other personal details, and its consent-based contact model prevents unknown users from messaging or following someone without mutual agreement. Users can maintain multiple chat profiles and set up the app on multiple devices. Chats can include mini-apps such as shopping lists, calendars, and games. The product is based on the chatmail system and is described as working under difficult network conditions. It supports end-to-end encrypted messaging and can be run using a user’s own email address or server. The app is a fork of another client and experiments with features, but its described goal is an approachable, data-conscious messenger. The supplied record states security properties as product claims; it does not provide technical detail about the encryption implementation in this description.
