About BLE Radar
BLE Radar scans and analyzes nearby Bluetooth Low Energy broadcasts. It lists devices in the surrounding area and can apply flexible filters to narrow the results by identifiers, device types, or observed behavior. For selected devices, it can inspect available GATT services and characteristics, and includes a GATT service explorer. Metadata can be used to classify a device type and estimate its approximate distance. The app is designed to help users understand what nearby BLE devices are advertising and whether their identifiers appear persistent or randomized. It can create alerts for devices that match selected criteria or appear to move with the phone over time. These features can support personal inspection of wireless devices, but identifiers and distance estimates can vary with device behavior and radio conditions. BLE Radar does not collect or send personal or geolocation data, according to its description, and is open-source. It is an analysis tool, not a definitive tracker detector or guarantee that a device is safe. BLE metadata may be incomplete, change over time, or be difficult to interpret without technical context. The app is useful for examining nearby BLE advertisements, reviewing exposed services, and filtering or monitoring devices of interest. Its readings depend on Android’s Bluetooth permissions and the information devices choose to broadcast.
