About BlueGate
BlueGate is an Android client for controlling a compatible BLE gate or garage-door controller. The app generates and stores a secp256r1 key pair and displays the public key so it can be shared with the gate administrator. It then authenticates to the controller using ECDSA signatures. Once connected, users can administer controller keys and settings and review logs. The controller uses open firmware for an ESP32-C6 device and communicates with the phone over Bluetooth Low Energy. The app requires Bluetooth access and location permission for BLE scanning, but does not require internet access and does not attempt to detect the user’s location, according to its description. BlueGate is a client for a specific gate-controller setup, not a standalone smart-gate service. Its controls depend on the compatible controller, configured keys, and Bluetooth connection.
