About Conscrypt Provider
Conscrypt Provider is an Android package that makes the Conscrypt cryptographic library available to compatible apps. The library provides modern TLS capabilities, including TLS 1.3, for applications that need those features on older Android devices. TLS is the protocol used to protect many network connections, and the provider is intended to supply a newer implementation where the device’s built-in support may be older. The package has no user-facing interface and does not appear in the app drawer. Installing it alone does not change how every app connects: application developers must add code that uses the provider, and an app must support that integration to benefit from it. The package separates the library from individual applications so that only users and developers who need it have to include it. Conscrypt Provider is intended for older Android devices and applications that explicitly use the library. The supplied description notes that newer Android versions already include TLS 1.3 support, so this package is mainly relevant to apps supporting older devices.
