About Duetto

Duetto is a communication app for two people that keeps a shared audio channel open rather than treating each interaction as a separate phone call. When both people open the app, they connect automatically; if one is not present, the other remains reachable and receives an alert when they arrive. Video can be enabled when wanted, with quality selected to suit both phones. The phones exchange audio and video directly with end-to-end encryption. A server that the users run themselves, or are invited to use, helps the phones find each other but is described as unable to read the communication. Pairing uses an eight-digit code or QR code, and invitations can let others establish their own connections on the server. The app can remain connected across sleep or network changes and pauses audio during a phone call, resuming afterward. Duetto requires Android 7 or later and a separately hosted server. The described server setup uses a small Node.js process and a relay component. The app is intended for a persistent private channel between two users, not for making ordinary calls or creating public group rooms. Its operation depends on maintaining the server and network path needed for the two devices to discover each other.
