About Freifunk-Karte
Freifunk-Karte is an Android map for finding Freifunk wireless access points. It shows nearby network nodes on a map, helping users locate a community Wi-Fi hotspot while traveling. The app is intended to make free access points easier to find and connect to, without a mobile data contract for that connection. The map uses OpenStreetMap, and node information is obtained from the Freifunk network’s public data interface. Users can browse the mapped locations and go to a nearby node to connect. The app is described as having no ads. Freifunk-Karte is a hotspot locator rather than a general navigation tool. The available coverage depends on where community nodes have been registered, and connection quality depends on the individual access point. Its main purpose is to display nearby network locations on a map.
