About GPSd Forwarder
GPSd Forwarder sends NMEA location messages from an Android phone’s GPS receiver to a specified computer over UDP. The phone can thereby act as a GPS source for a host machine running software that accepts gpsd-compatible data, such as navigation or robotics applications. The user enters the host address and port, then starts forwarding. The computer must be reachable from the phone, typically on the same Wi-Fi network. GPSd Forwarder is a relay between the phone’s GPS hardware and host software; it does not itself provide navigation or store a route history. Its usefulness depends on the host being configured to receive the UDP stream.
