About GPXIT
GPXIT helps plan a return by train from a one-way cycling route. Import a GPX route, a common file format for GPS tracks, and the app finds train stations along or near the path. When it is time to head back, the route view can show upcoming stations with estimated cycling time to reach them, waiting time, and available connections. Connection details include intermediate stops and transfers, helping a rider compare where to leave the route and how the onward journey fits together. The app can also search for nearby stations elsewhere on the map, and a selected station can be opened in the user’s preferred map app for navigation. Transport modes can be configured, including regional trains, urban rail, trams, buses, and ferries; long-distance trains can be optionally included. Transit queries draw on several regional data services, with German and international connections described as a central coverage area. Availability therefore depends on the service data for the places being searched. For route planning beyond rail connections, GPXIT can display useful stops along a ride, such as shops, bakeries, drinking water, toilets, and bicycle repair locations, including opening hours. This point-of-interest information can be downloaded for selected countries and used offline. Map tiles can also be saved for offline viewing. GPXIT is aimed at cyclists who want flexibility on longer or one-way rides: they can follow a planned route, check potential stations as the ride progresses, and compare return options without planning the train leg separately. Location is used to show the rider’s position on the map. The supplied description says there are no accounts, tracking, or analytics; internet access is used for map content, transit queries, and downloading offline place information.
