About Husk
Husk turns a spare Android phone into a camera and control device that can be accessed on a local network or through a private overlay network. It can stream the front or rear camera as MJPEG to a browser or as a webcam through a computer tool, and the camera can be switched while streaming. It can also send motion alerts based on camera or screen activity, with a snapshot, and provides an accessibility engine for scripted on-screen actions. The app includes a bridge for controlling the phone from a computer and can recover wireless debugging after a reboot. It starts automatically after reboot and includes a display-mode toggle for compatible phones. Husk does not require root, but it deliberately exposes local control services while running. Access is limited by a source-address allowlist, with an optional additional token. The product’s description emphasizes local-network operation and says it does not connect to an external project website; motion push alerts are an optional exception that require configuration. These access and network details are important when using a phone as a remote camera or control rig.
