About IPFSDroid
IPFSDroid is an Android client tool for accessing content through the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). It helps other Android applications use IPFS functionality, but it is not a full IPFS node. In its current design, it relies on a centralized gateway service to access IPFS content from the device. The app is intended as a supporting component for applications that need to work with IPFS on Android. By providing a shared client interface, it allows those apps to use the system without each one implementing its own connection logic. The current gateway-based approach means it does not provide the full decentralized operation of running a node locally. IPFSDroid is useful when an Android app needs access to IPFS but the device is not running a complete IPFS node. Its limitations are important: it acts as a client dependency and depends on the configured gateway service for access.
