About Kompanion
Kompanion is a phone-based remote control for an e-reader running KOReader. It connects over the same local network to KOReader’s HTTP Inspector and provides controls for frontlight brightness and warmth, night mode, full-screen refresh, and page turning. Five custom buttons can activate reader profiles, and volume buttons can be remapped for navigation. The app can move backward or forward through followed links, provide text input for fields on the reader, and offer an immersive reading mode with a minimal interface and brightness. It can also display the e-reader’s battery level and graph it during a session. Keyboard shortcuts allow compatible keyboards and some presentation remotes to act as controls. Kompanion requires the reader’s HTTP Inspector to be running on the same local network and does not connect to a server outside that network. It is a companion control surface rather than a reader or library manager.
