About KouChat
KouChat is a serverless chat and file-transfer app for users on the same local Wi-Fi network. It supports group conversations, private chats, file sending and receiving, and a group topic. Users can choose a nickname and message colors, see who is currently typing, and set an away mode. Rich notifications help surface incoming activity, and messages can use any language supported by Unicode. The app requires no internet connection, central server, or special setup, but it works only on the same local network. It does not connect users across the internet or cellular networks. Some networks must support multicast discovery for KouChat to find other users, and some devices may have unreliable network access while the screen is off. KouChat is intended for local conversations at home, work, or another shared Wi-Fi network. Its serverless design avoids account setup, while its reach is limited to devices that can discover one another on the local network.
