About Kwik EFIS
Kwik EFIS is an Android aviation instrument and navigation app that presents flight information in a glass-cockpit style display. It combines a moving map, flight instruments, synthetic vision, and a flight director. The map is intended to support situational awareness and navigation, while the instrument display gives pilots a consolidated view of flight information on a compatible Android device. The moving map can show nearby traffic when connected to a compatible Stratux ADS-B/AHRS unit, which can also provide an external source of attitude and heading information. Without that accessory, the app can use the device’s internal sensors. Synthetic vision builds a terrain view from digital elevation data and can provide some terrain collision detection when enabled. Terrain coverage is supplied through separate regional data packages, so the appropriate package is needed for the area being used. The flight director provides guidance using a V-bar display. The target waypoint and altitude are set with on-screen controls. The app also includes airspace information and a simulator mode: after choosing a waypoint and altitude, the simulator generates GPS movement toward the selected target at a speed based on the chosen aircraft’s typical cruise speed.
