About LANShield
LANShield lets users monitor and control other apps’ access to devices on their local network. It can show which apps interact with the LAN, send a notification when an app attempts access, and let the user block or allow that access app by app. This is intended for situations where an app needs internet access but should not be able to reach local devices such as a router, computer, camera, or connected home device. To apply these controls, LANShield uses Android’s VpnService API to create a virtual network interface on the device. The product description clarifies that this interface is local and does not create an external VPN connection. Its main workflow is therefore reviewing app activity and setting LAN access rules, with notifications providing a prompt to examine unexpected attempts.
